Couldn't believe that the early pregnancy unit was right next to the maternity and neonatal ward. I was going for an early scan after symptoms of miscarriage and seeing newborn babies on the way in made for a very traumatic experience. I'm not from the area and the hospital by where I used to live had this section away from the maternity hospital for this very reason. Absolutely disgusted

Absolutely terrible service. Thought it was bad enough 5yrs ago when they refused to accept my baby had jaundice and discharged us. I was told he was Asain which is why he was yellow!! He was admitted to SGH by my gp the very next day, he was so weak and scrawny by then that he didnt even flinch when they took his blood to check for bilirubin. He had not fed for days, had stopped weeing/pooing and just cried intermittently until he wore himself out and fell asleep! And all the while the midwives kept telling me he was absolutely fine!! Luckily But this time really took the buscuit!! Not just one person, but again and again staff ignored simple and clear instructions from my consultant/midwife with regards to my labour/delivery due to a conplex maternity history and previous ectopic c-scar pregnancy: no IOL, no hormones, low threshold for c-sec, 1st sign of delay/complications taken straight in for surgery. I was left to labour in agonising pain for over 20hrs, hormones were given and repeatedly increased despite my telling them to check my notes. I was made to feel lazy because i was exhausted and dosing off in between contractions. My baby was back to back and had his hand on his cheek which meant it was extremely difficult to deliver him. The monitor was also broken so couldnt register my contractions. The midwife delayed commencing sintocin for 4hrs! I had 9 holes where cannulas were repeatedly inserted unsuccessfully. After finally managing to deliver the baby i was put through further hours of agony whilst clots were physically removed from my womb, pph meant i lost 1450 litres of blood, a midwife grazed me on the inside whilst inserting her hands leaving me in pain on passing urine for days after. For the next 5 days i was ignored when i repeatedly told drs/midwives that i was bleeding heavily with bright red blood/clots and severe left sided pv pain around my ectopic site. It wasn't until i was readmitted with an aggressive womb infection and needed IV antibiotics that anyone actually listened and paid attention. Throughout my time on Burley Ward my repeated requests to only be seen by female drs were ignored and everyday a male dr was sent in to examine me and discuss the intimate details of my womb infection. Upon discharge i was not given any info as to who to contact/where to go/what to do if my health deteriorated, or I had any concerns. The letter sent to my gp upon discharge claimed I was happy with the plan and my lochia had settled. I was still bleeding heavily/with left sided ongoing pv pain, and I was very anxious at being sent home without having finished the course of antibiotics, still in pain, with heavy bleeding/clots but the SHO/midwives again ignored me and did not do anything to alleviate my concerns, in fact discharged me with no idea of where to go or who to contact if things got worse again.
